Assessing the Effect of E-books on Mazandaran High School Students’ Tendency to Study during 2011-2012

Abstract

AbstractIntroduction: Currently, users do not only need access to information, but also need speed and ease of access to information. Therefore, the use of information and communication technologies has rapidly increased. E-books are sources of information that can easily be provided to people increasing their tendency to study. We aimed to investigate the role of using e-books on the tendency to study.Material & Methods: In this survey, we enrolled all high school students in Mazandaran province, north Iran during the academic year 2011-2012 (n= 92, 411). Of these, 384 students were randomly selected using cluster sampling. The sample size was determined using the Kerjecie and Morgan table. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire consisting of 30 questions with a reliability of 0.91. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.Results: Distant access, ease of transfer with respect to content integrity, multimedia support, content integrity and diverse applicability, intermediate content exchange, ease of use and implementation affected the students’ tendency to use e-books.Conclusions: Using e-books affects the students’ tendency to study.
